The road of life….

It is crazy where the road of life can take a person.   On May 15, 2004 thanks to my Dad and a 5K race in Utica, MI my running life had begun.  Tomorrow I will be doing a 20 mile Training run to prepare of my second 26.2 mile journey that will take place on April 29, 2006.  So in less than two years I went from the part time athlete to a person that can say they run marathons.   I am still amazed when I think of all of this.  Is it possible?  Has it only been two years?  Where would I be in life now, physically, mentally and spiritually if I had told my Dad “no thanks” back in the Spring of 2004?  I have no idea.  But I do know that running has been a big part of my life and I hope it will remain part of my life for as long as possible.  I also know that running has helped me to grow spiritually, mentally and of course physically.  For that I thank my Dad for asking me to run that 5k and all his continued support; God for all of his help, physical strength, determination, keeping me safe on runs, mentally helping me through and “everything”; And last of all everyone else that has supported me, coached me, and even the people that wave and say Hi back when I am running.  A simple wave, smile or hello back when you are fighting to get those miles in goes farther than you can imagine.  This road of life can be crazy, unpredictable, rewarding, and even fun at times. So put one foot in the front of the other and keep going.
