Nashville – Post Race

After I crossed I stopped the watch and looked at my time – 4:44:28.  That was 33 minutes better than my first marathon, a great improvement!  I then received my medal, blanket, and began to walk down the exit area.  As if he instantly appeared my Dad was right next to me.  It was awesome having him there with me and help me hobble through the finish area.  We got some water, goodies to snack on, and I checked in at the TNT table to get my pin.  Then we went to the Medical tent to get my heel looked at.  Yikes!  The whole back of my shoe was soaked with blood on the inside.  There are pictures of the shoe on this site if you can handle it.  They cleaned it out, put some band aids on and we were off to the shuttle buses and back to the hotel.  So here are some final stats:

4:44:28 – total time.

4410 calories burned according to the Garmin.

One black toe nail.

A bloody heal.

6 Power Gel Packets consumed during the race.

And a 10 minute ice bath afterwards that really helped!

After a short nap I said goodbye to my Dad as he left for the airport, and then got ready for the Victory Celebration.  The Victory Celebration had great food, and was a great time also.  Plus some of us TNT’ers that were energized from the marathon experience, hit some of the local bars for dancing and drinking celebration.  Everyone had a good time and no one really got out of control.

I want to close these long Nashville posts by saying my thank you’s.  Thank you Lord for allowing me another great experience. Thank you to my family, parents and friends for putting up with all of my crazy training, running talk, and fundraising.  If I have been added to some of your Spam filter lists, I understand.  Thanks Dad for taking the time to fly in and be there with me for the marathon, and thanks Mom for allowing him to go.  Thank you to everyone at Team in Training!  My awesome “Team Experience” group.  I could not have asked for a better group of people that helped make fundraising fun.  Thanks to all the TNT staffers, always there when we needed you.  Thank you to our awesome Coach Ken!   You taught us so much more than you know and made training fun!  Last of all thank you to everyone that contributed to my fundraising and the cause.  Without all of you I mentioned above none of this would be possible.

As I receive more pictures I will put them in the Photos section of my Blog site.  (Hint: Where is says Slideshow select Full View so that you can see the pictures better.  Or click on Photos on the top menu next to Blog.)  Thanks for reading!
