Oh the Places You Will Go
"You’ll be on your way up! / You’ll be seeing great sights! / You’ll join the high fliers / who soar to high heights." – Dr. Seuss
I never thought that fundraising for a good cause and training for a marathon could be this fun. I have met a lot of amazing people, and have to admit that I am enjoying “almost” every minute of it. It is hard to enjoy those bad weather running days, but it is all about the experience. Just like the quotes above from Dr. Seuss’s classic children’s book I feel that this whole running thing has helped me be on way up, see great sights, joining or at least getting passed by the high flyers, and soaring to new heights. Who ever thought that something that I read when I was young would apply to my adult life? Well I was granted another opportunity for a new adventure last week. Team in Training runners were asked to come out and run to work with one of our local news reporters from Fox 2, Lila Lazarus. We were asked to wear Tigers and Team in Training gear. With the blessing of my boss I was allowed to come into work later that morning and participate. None of us were really sure what to expect. It was a fun morning! We started running when it was still dark, and ran all the way to the Fox News studios. They had their news chopper follow us part of the way, and also a camera man along the route. I found out later that throughout the morning news they showed us running along the streets. It was kind of funny but also good to promote Team in Training in this unique way. After we arrived at the studio they had us live on the air for a few minutes and also did some other interviews after. From what I was told they played the completed segment a couple of times on Friday during news broadcasts. Here is a link to the clip off of the Fox 2 News site:
Now for the important stuff……
I want to wish all of the TNT runners and walkers that will be joining me at the Detroit Free Press Marathon this Sunday good luck in their events. Remember to enjoy every minute of the weekend. From the pasta party on Saturday night all the way to the victory party after you have crossed the finish line. You have earned it!
