Bayshore Marathon 2007 #4 – Post Race

After I crossed the finish line I received my medal, had my chip removed, grabbed some water, and headed for the Team in Training tent.  I drenched myself with water and took in some Gatorade.  I then laid on the grass for awhile waiting for my body to cool down.  I had not made my goal of under 4 hours but I was one minute better than my last marathon that was about two months prior.  There is always the next marathon to try to get less than 4 hours.  After getting off the ground I headed over to the Coldstone tent for some ice cream and ran into some fellow runners along the way.  I was glad to see that Miranda, Ryan, and Julie had finished and were still able to smile.  Here are the final stats:

4:06:37 – total time.

9:25 – Average Pace Per Mile

4,495 calories burned according to the Garmin.

No black toe nails!

My right ankle was a little bloody from my sock slipping and the shoe rubbing.  Nothing new for me.

No muscle cramps!

9 Power Gel Packets consumed during the race.

And a 20 minute ice bath afterwards that always helps.

Thank you to the Lord above for allowing me to complete another marathon.  I am very thankful for all of your blessings.  Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement that has helped me complete another marathon.  With out all of you I am not sure I could make it as far as I have.  Thanks to Julie, Ryan, Miranda, Jamie, Michelle and Coach Ken for running with me during the event.  Hopefully I was also good company for you for at least a few miles.  Thank you to all of my fellow TNT’ers for great training runs, inspiration and support.  Last but not least
thanks again to Coach Ken – still and always a great coach.  We will all miss you this Fall Season.
